Rise together.

Sanctuary Community Initiative is a community-recovery organization, funding the housing, transportation, and support that carry people through the fragile weeks after treatment and incarceration. The goal is simple: that recovery holds, and no one has to sustain it alone.

The hardest part comes after treatment. That's where you come in.

Step In

Join The Sanctuary.

Help us fund the part of recovery that's almost always overlooked: what happens after treatment ends. Clinical care does its job, then people walk out into the exact conditions that put them at risk in the first place: no stable place to sleep, no ride to work, no community to fall back on.

By stepping in, you fund the floor people stand on while they rebuild. Unlike a treatment center, we exist for the weeks and months after, the stretch that decides whether recovery lasts. We've seen what steady support makes possible, and you can be the reason it holds.

Why Birds
Each membership tier is a Sonoran bird: resilience, family, community, and rebirth, rising toward the Phoenix.

The Sanctuary Program

Membership in the mission. The Sanctuary is our sustaining-membership program, for people who believe recovery deserves more than a completion date.

Members join as a desert bird and rise toward the Phoenix. Just as these birds endure the harshest ground and still build, gather, and rise, the people we serve find strength and renewal through continued support. By becoming a member, you get an inside look at the work your giving makes possible: member updates, impact stories, invitations, and Sanctuary merchandise, and you become part of someone's recovery holding.

The Sanctuary membership program is coming soon. For now, selecting a bird takes you to make a general donation.

Your monthly gift through The Sanctuary is steady, life-changing support for people rebuilding after treatment and incarceration. We depend on members like you to help fund housing, transportation, and the connections that keep recovery on its feet. Every gift, at every tier, makes a lasting difference. Thank you for rising with us.

A Member's Story

Brian's Story

"When I got out of prison and finished treatment, I thought the hard part was behind me. It wasn't. Nobody wanted to rent to me. Nobody wanted to hire me. Every door I knocked on, I had to explain my record first, and that was usually where the conversation ended. I was sober and I was trying, but trying didn't pay rent."

"Sanctuary didn't make me explain myself. They just helped. A place to stay, the basics, people who stayed in my corner long enough for things to actually change. That support came from donations, from people like you. Without it, I honestly don't know if I would have made it."

"There's research showing that when someone stays engaged in support for a year or more, the odds flip. Failure rates drop from around 70% to as low as 4%. I'm what that year looks like. Today I'm working, I'm housed, and I'm still here."
